The Lord of the Rings

Haldir is a fictional character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, specifically appearing in Peter Jackson's movie adaptation of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). He did not appear in the book of the same name.

In the film, Haldir is a Marchwarden of Lothlórien, an Elf charged with guarding the borders of the Elven realm. He leads a company of archers and encounters the Fellowship of the Ring as they approach Lothlórien after escaping the Mines of Moria. Haldir initially distrusts the Fellowship, particularly the presence of a dwarf, Gimli, but is ultimately persuaded to lead them to Caras Galadhon, the city of Galadriel and Celeborn.

Haldir plays a more significant role in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) movie, where he arrives at Helm's Deep with a company of Elven archers to aid the men of Rohan in their defense against Saruman's Uruk-hai army. He tragically dies in the battle, fighting bravely against overwhelming odds, showcasing the alliance between Elves and Men.
